Bokobza’s installation “Pisga” (Summit) is another episode in the historical-metaphorical narrative he has spent a decade stitching together. Its purpose is to present Zionist history as a statement that is relevant for Israel today, and, more generally, for the post-colonial era in which East-West relations find themselves. In a little room is Bokobza’s chess board, a common metaphor for a battleground. The pieces are seemingly innocent stereotypical European and Middle-Eastern families, painted in a naive-decorative style.
